Hey, I’m Tara! People often ask if my name is Tara or Tara Lee. The story behind my business name is a bit lovely. I became a photographer while dating my incredible husband, my best friend, Jayden and I knew I would happily change my last name after we got married. So, Lee is my middle name, and I felt “Tara Photography” was a bit too short for my liking. So, you can just call me Tara!
I’ve been a portrait and wedding photographer on the Sunshine Coast since 2004, and it’s one of the greatest honours to witness couples declare their love on their wedding day and then later see their families grow and evolve.
I have a special spot for family photography, I want that when your children look at their family photos, to see all the love you feel for them, to know they are part of something special, that they belong.
After having my daughter, family photography took on a whole new meaning. The first time I saw a photo of the three of us in the hospital, it finally sank in—I’m a mum. Until I saw that photo, it didn’t feel real.
My husband, Jayden, runs Sunshine Coast Videography (seriously, his videos are the best—just try not to cry watching them). Having a family of my own has deepened my appreciation for family portraits. It’s true what they say—they grow up so fast. And no matter how many photos we take, it never feels like enough.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll usually find me with my family—my heart’s greatest joy. On our days off together, we soak up the salty air of the Sunshine Coast, spending the day by the ocean, and then chill out and rest in the afternoons.
My approach to photography is all about connection—those raw, unposed moments that tell your family’s unique story. I’m here to capture the real you, in all your beautiful imperfection.
Beyond photography, my favourite thing to do is laugh, if you can get me laughing, I am hooked. I love a good book, a great podcast, I love anything water related ( I even swim in winter), pilates is my choice of exercise – that and a walk and chat on the beach with a friend. Side note, I am obsessed with beautiful light – nothing like a sunrise or sunset to make me feel gratitude.
